Plant Protection Products

They are an important tool for farmers. They are used when there is no suitable alternative method to ensure crops survive and thrive. They allow farmers to grow yields that with them would not be possible.  Crop protection products therefore keep your crops safe from attack by insects, weeds and diseases. They improve the productivity of existing farmland they reduce the need for new land to be brought into agricultural production. Therefore, crop protection plays an important role in protecting biodiversity by reducing deforestation.

On Farm Marketplace we are building up the widest range of products available for sale at "farming" prices online.  Check out our A-Z Product list above. If there is anything you need and you can't see it above then call us on 01543 728813 or email lucy@marketplace.farm and we will try and source it for you.

Crop Protection Products fall into one of the following groups:

• herbicides

• fungicides

• insecticides

• plant growth regulators

• seed treatments

• molluscicides

• trace elements

• adjuvants

 Why use Crop Protection Products?

Farmers are trying to produce more food from the same or less land, while at the same time seeing the available crop protection options diminish due to regulation and resistance.  This remains a key challenge for farming food producers in the UK.

Therefore, effective disease control remains central to profitable farming. This is to minimise the cost of production through increased yields. Varietal choice and the use of inherent disease resistance should be a primary consideration when deciding on cropping plans.
